Personal History		Commander Ethan Cole was born in 2367 in Missoula, Montana, to an architect father and a psychiatrist mother whose work with Starfleet personnel fostered his lifelong interest in human behavior. He entered Starfleet Academy intending to study security, but supplemented his education with coursework in psychology and conflict resolution. Early assignments along the former Cardassian frontier established his reputation as an officer who preferred preventing violence to winning it. Successive postings in starship and starbase security led to increasingly senior leadership roles, culminating in his appointment as Chief of Security aboard Deep Space 12 in 2402. By 2404, Cole is regarded as a trusted and steady commander whose greatest successes are often the incidents that never occur because he anticipated them first.
