Mission: Intrepid: Maximized
Location: USS Intrepid and USS Pathfinder
Timeline: MD1: 1000 hours

Captain Emma Ambrose and Commander Rylen Lyo returned to the bridge, resuming their previous positions. Emma opened the shipwide communications and began informing the crew of their change in plans. She would need to do the same for Captain Lorut, but was pleased to see the captain had adjusted the Pathfinder’s course to match their own.

“Attention crew of the Intrepid. We have been ordered to intercept a stolen runabout using an unconventional new propulsion system that we’ve never seen before.

As such, we will be launching probes ahead to determine the nature of this drive and if it poses any threat to the ships or the crews of the Intrepid and Pathfinder. If you have any questions, please direct them to your department chief. Let’s get to work.”

Turning her attention to the forward positions, she gave new orders. “Commander Bjornsson, slow to warp eight and maintain course. We’ll need the probes to arrive in position before we do.”

"Aye captain." Bjornsson tapped the control and the ship responded. He saw on his display that the stress on the ship decreased. "Warp 8, captain."

“Lieutenant Armidale, as we are waiting for our new Chief Engineer, I’ll be asking you to pull double duty on this mission with your primary position being in Engineering. As such, I need you and Lieutenant S’tera to begin working on probes to detect anything unusual about their propulsion system.”

Callan looked up and over to S’tera. As he stood, a relief officer took his place. “Lieutenant S’tera, shall we head to your labs? Maybe a quick brainstorming session to determine what we would do to juice the engines of a runabout will give us ideas of what to look for,” he suggested in his thick Aussie accent.

Her tail flicked back and forth. "Agreed. Let's go!"

“Commander Lyo, you’ll be working as our Strategic Operations Officer and liaison with the Pathfinder. I expect you’ll keep Captain Lorut and her crew up to speed with any updates. Of course, I’ll have a private chat with the Captain about our current change before those duties take full effect.”

“Aye captain,” Lyo answered evenly though he wasn’t particularly happy with the additional duties.

Turning just slightly in her command chair, she faced the Sec/Tac Chief. “Chief Dahris, take us to yellow alert, shields and weapons at the ready but not yet queued up to active status.

“Open a channel to the Pathfinder, please,” Emma politely added to her commands.

Bjornsson reported, "Channel open, captain."

A stolen runabout? Rena did NOT like the sound of that. She remained calm, though, noticing that the Pathfinder had adjusted course. It was, indeed, a bit settling to know that Vila and Dr. Greene were close by, but still. She knew that the crew would coalesce in time.

When the channel opened, Lorut was front and center. “Captain Lorut, I think we should meet regarding new orders for the Intrepid. If it’s not too much trouble, I’d like to visit Pathfinder, I’ve not seen her class before.”

=/\= Sure. Feel free to beam over when you're free. =/\= Vila herself was supervising the movement of personnel and supplies throughout the Pathfinder.

“I have a meeting with Commander Lyo and then I’ll be over,” Emma answered.

“Alright,” Emma said turning her attention back to the crew, her tone stern and a bit concerned even. “We’ve been tasked with a mission ahead of the expected schedule.

“I know this crew is up to the task, so let’s set our minds to it. Commander Lyo, please join me in my ready room. Commander Bjornsson, you have the bridge.”

"Aye, captain." Bjornsson stood up from the helm station and moved to the captain's chair and sat down.
